About: Empath Health is an integrated network of care providing care and support for those dealing with chronic or advanced illnesses, making health care decisions or dealing with grief. Through the Empath Honors Program we resolve to take care of our Veterans as they have taken care of us through their service. We recognize that Veterans have unique medical, social, spiritual and emotional needs and our specially-trained staff work to understand each Veterans goals. Families/caregivers of veterans also receive support and connections to resources.
Empath Honors services include:
- Trained veteran volunteers: Trained veteran volunteers bring their military experiences to their hospice work. Through a shared common language and cultural bond, veteran volunteers provide a great deal of support to veteran patients and their families.
- Military service recognition ceremonies
- We Honor Veterans program: We are committed to WHV’s mission of respectful inquiry, compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgment of the veterans we serve. Working with the VA, veteran service organizations and other
community partners, we are able to provide many specialized programs and services that honor and support veterans.
- Veterans History Project: We help collect first-hand accounts of combat veterans’ military experience for future generations. Specially trained Suncoast Hospice volunteers interview our veterans to create a video or audio recording,
which is then submitted and archived in the Library of Congress. Participants receive a copy of their interview, certificate of participation and record of where their stories are archived.
- Honor Flight®: Transports combat era veterans to their memorials in Washington, D.C. free of charge. Top priority is given to senior veterans and those under hospice care. Suncoast Hospice is able to facilitate the application process and assist in coordinating the flight.
Empath member programs offer: hospice, home health, community-based palliative care, all-inclusive care for the elderly, crisis and traumatic counseling, pharmacy services, HIV services and support and more.

About: Liberty Manor for Veterans, Inc., identified a void in services in 2005 as it relates to homeless veterans when we learned that the veterans who worked hard and “played it straight” all their life and refrained from drugs or alcohol receive no services or housing! It was then when we realized that our returning veterans were not well-supported, and many go without services due to a lack in government funding. The void in services was not being addressed. Therefore, the objective of Liberty Manor for Veterans was to provide housing and all social service resources necessary to achieve the goal of self-sufficiency for homeless veterans. This meritorious initiative is the first of its kind, as we do not provide housing in cases when the veteran has an addiction. Instead, we provide housing to veterans that have “played it straight all their life”, but merely fell victim to homelessness due to an unemployment situation.

About: For friends, our youth, and our fellow veterans, we active duty and former officers have come together to provide support, information, and fellowship to those whom we pledge to serve. We continue to serve by expressing the needs of our veterans and youth to our representatives, and we continue in our oath to defend the Constitution, especially from the domestic enemies of ignorance, self-service, and abandoned principles.
Our service lies in grass roots advocacy to ensure and protect veterans’ benefits and in the mutual support of private veterans programs here in our community, including service to surviving spouses of veterans. Our fundraising efforts support programs such as those assisting homeless veterans, veterans’ art, the Honor Flights, and the JROTC programs at Clearwater High School and Dunedin High School, awarding college scholarships to each program annually. Additionally, we have now expanded support to JROTC, in combination with the Military Order of World Wars (MOWW), by hosting an annual Golf Tournament that supports ALL 8 JROTCs located within Pinellas County.
Through our website, our speaker’s program, and our newsletter, The Drumbeat, we keep our members informed of vital issues being considered by our legislators and administrators.
Our fellowship is expressed monthly at our membership meetings and special events.
The Clearwater Chapter is an affiliate of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA). MOAA and its affiliated councils and chapters are non-partisan.
